BIO
Meet Chantal Jean-Pierre:As a seasoned actress with two decades of stage & screen experience under her belt, Chantal Jean-Pierre excels in roles where the characters possess a pillar of strength with commanding intelligence.
Her personal journey as a small child from the republic of Haiti to the global-melting pot on the coastal shores of Miami, perhaps infused her deep love of language. The calling to tell stories led to undergraduate acting training at Florida International University, and then on to New Jersey to obtain her Acting MFA at Rutgers University. Whether uttering the classic text of Shakespeare or the modern expressive language of Wilson or Hansberry, over the years Chantal has vividly brought these characters to life. Her searing acting abilities balances courage and vulnerability, while fusing technique with innate form. A few favorite roles over the years include playing the seductive Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra; the lustful Olivia of Twelfth Night; and the pernicious Goneril in King Lear (André DeShields as the king). Chantal also enjoys exploring the lives of modern, charismatic women in modern classics such as Jasmine in the Pulitzer-prize winning play Fairview (Berkeley Rep – west coast premiere) or Ruth in A Raisin in the Sun (Crossroads Theatre Co). Recently, her career has evolved to comprise more screen work which afforded her the opportunity to expand her repertoire with meaty roles on “Blue Bloods,” “New Amsterdam,” “The Good Fight” and “Law & Order: SUV.” |
When she’s not gracing the stage or screen, Chantal contributes to the next generation of performing artists by teaching Master Classes or offering private coaching. She has been in the theater arts faculty at Rutgers University, SUNY/Purchase, Brown/Trinity MFA, and Howard University among others.
Chantal seeks to balance live theater performances with impactful screen opportunities where she can play commanding females whose voice can inspire audiences worldwide. She is also in the relentless pursuit of improved health so she has adopted a healthy eating lifestyle while continuing her favorite physical exercises at the gym– running, cycling class and pumping iron in the weight room.
